Ann Tran is the True Beauty Center’s Cosmetic physician assistant. Ann has been a physician assistant for almost 20 years. Her experience and manner as well as her expertise in lasers and aesthetics have made her an invaluable member of our team.
Ann’s interest in medicine began when she was a little girl in Vietnam. Like so many who have pursued medicine as a career, she remembers feeling helpless in the face of a beloved family member’s illness — in her case, it was her grandfather. When her family came to the United States in 1975, she was encouraged to pursue a college education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Biology, then furthered her education to become a Physician Assistant.
When asked why she chose a career as a Physician Assistant, Ann speaks glowingly about the profession’s broad base of knowledge in all disciplines, from surgery to pediatrics. The Physician Assistant’s educational program is like an abbreviated version of medical school. It includes one year of didactics (book work) and one year of clinical externships. While she was happy helping patients in her clinical work, where she specialized in urgent care and personal injuries, in 2000 she truly found her calling when she was introduced to laser rejuvenation.
Ann explains that over the past 15 years she has pursued numerous certifications in lasers, aesthetics, and injectables. She collaborates with her colleagues continuously and uses the latest techniques in aesthetics. She joined Dr. Scheiner’s practice when she was recommended to him by the Sciton laser company, for which he serves as an advisor and Luminary. It was a perfect match.
Since she joined the practice, Ann’s skills have been apparent to colleagues and patients alike. They truly appreciate her expertise in a wide range of services, including broad band light for sun damage and wrinkles, vein reduction, laser hair removal, microneedling, and platelet rich plasma injections. Her ever-expanding knowledge of integrative medicine and prevention complements our patients’ interest in improving their health and skin. Ann is passionate about educating her patients about nutrition, supplements, and energy modalities that can improve their quality of life.
When she isn’t working and learning, Ann enjoys spending time with her husband, Khanh, and their children, Ashley and Alex. There has always been music in her life, from when she was little to the present. Ann’s dad played the violin and her mom played the Chinese slide guitar; her brothers and sister all played violin. In their home, Ann plays the violin and Khanh loves listening to all types of music, while Ashley plays the piano and viola and Alex plays guitar. Music gives them another insight of understanding and peace.
Ann is a strong believer in looking good and feeling great. Her passion for both is evident at the True Beauty Center. We are lucky to have her.
