Dr. Adam Scheiner brought a lab coat with him to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards this year to be autographed and auctioned off starting January 12 for a Florida domestic violence prevention organization.
Tampa, Florida (January 2010) – Dr. Adam Scheiner, a facial plastic surgeon well known for his Tampa blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) procedures, will be auctioning off white lab coats signed by celebrities at the 2009 MTV Music Awards and Emmy Awards. All proceeds of the auction, which will be held from January 12 to 22 on Ebay, will benefit The Spring, a Tampa organization that shelters and counsels domestic violence victims.
“My hope is that the auction will mean a substantial contribution to the important work that The Spring is doing in our communities,” said Dr. Scheiner. “It’s my philosophy as a surgeon that safety and wellbeing have to be top priorities, and for similar reasons, I’m proud to be able to do what I can to help keep domestic violence victims safe.”
To get the celebrities’ signatures, Dr. Scheiner brought one new lab coat from his laser eye center in Tampa, FL to the Celebrity Gifting Suite at the 2009 Emmy Awards and another to the MTV Movie Awards show. There, the coats were covered with signatures from stars including William Shatner, Hector Elizondo, Warren Sapp, Erik Estrada, and Kellan Lutz, to name just a few.
“The usual point of contact between cosmetic surgeons and domestic violence happens in the unfortunate cases when victims need reconstructive surgery, but I wanted to reach out in a different way,” notes Tampa cosmetic surgeon Dr. Scheiner. “Domestic violence does generations of damage, but counseling and shelter for the abused can help break that pattern of violence and even save lives. It’s everyone’s responsibility to play a role in prevention.”
Although his practice is busy with popular cosmetic procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic, blepharoplasty, and non surgical face lifts in Tampa, Dr. Scheiner says he is always happy to commit time and energy to charity projects like this one.
“I feel that my involvement with The Spring is the logical extension of my commitment as a doctor to promote my patients’ health and safety. I travel around the country instructing surgeons on how to perform nonsurgical rejuvenation techniques safely because I think it’s important for doctors to help each other maintain high safety standards as we care for our patients,” he says.
Funds generated by the auction will be used by The Spring to help shelter, counsel, and relocate victims of domestic violence.
